YOU ARE HARMING YOUR MUSIC CAREER.

Now, a VERY important thing to understand is that everything you release under your alias, with your face, your voice and your backing, is a permanent mark on everybody who comes across your stuff.

This is ying and yang, 50/50 the perfect balance of bad and good for you dependant on you levels of standards you set for yourself and your self discipline.

What attracts consumers/fans to really invest their time and money into an artist?

Well that boils down to a lot of things but you can bet, if an artist invests in themselves to bring their fans the highest quality music and videos possible it's gonna get a lot more attention right? Im sure when it comes to your favourite artist you will always remember the videos they put out, how much effort they put into their music, it warrants and deserves your money to be spent on their albums/mixtapes etc.

Now imagine Meek Mill's next project was recorded on a laptop mic and his videos were filmed on a camera phone? or he made a picture slideshow video for his next big track? is that something YOU would be willing to part money for? NO.

So how does a rapper justify making trashy quality music and videos to match, yet pose all up in his pictures with a bottle of ciroc with a louie belt? and then complain when consumers don't invest their time and money into music they've made...???

I can bet if you set a budget of $200 for a track, you could lease a beat, get a budget video of decent quality done (or learn yourself!) and studio time, better yet an investment into your own equipment and taking time to learn how to use it.

I'm a music producer, but i started as a rapper, i live in WALES in the UK if you don't know what that is, we are to England what Canada is to America and i invested money into a recording set up, learn the skills it took and developed a relationship with and did favours for an up and coming production company which led to free music videos and we hit like 8000+ views on most of the videos.

Now if I can do it where i'm from, i'm sorry but you have NO excuses, when you invest in yourself and its good stuff, i promise you, people will invest in you.

And remember EVERYTHING you do, will be remembered, i know if i saw someone with a picture slideshow video with a trash quality track, next time i see them pop up on my facebook/twitter feed, i'm gonna keep scrolling.

Stop running from the responsibility your music career requires.

And of course shouts to everybody putting in that extra effort to give their fans what they want to see!

Stay Bless, From Ess.

  1. I ABSOLUTELY AGREE with you...however, I have seen people like Unified tribe, make very very good videos, and I dont really think they are making any money any more than the next man. I think, due to the internet..people are not buying anything anyhow. they are staying onine and making playlists...I feel I want to be Big on internet radio and get sales from the people that dont know how to rip music. Videos? thats nice, but truthfully, corporations are now blocking your videos from showing up with the REAL hit counts they really are getting (ie. youtube) since 2009. they are backing corporate labels...and not you. the way to make miney is to get the djs on the net to play you. Those men are not corporate controlled....Yet. There is billions being spent to stop them from playing online, so the corporations can control all internet radio.

  2. You know what it is though, i think the reason people don't make money is lack of business sense, artists need to understand that talent alone can't and won't get them to the next level, i mean i see hundreds of ill rappers all the time, but all they do is put out music, they don't have official websites, a brand or an email list, which are all essential in building the business side of it, i agree that alot of weight is in working with online dj's but the key is self proficiency and planning, if you plan to make money and stick to it, you will
