Now, despite what the mainstream would have you believe there is a LOT of talent out there, still we stay dumbed down by dumbed down versions of what we used to see as not just rappers but visionaries and revolutionaries, i.e Tupac, Rakim, Nas etc
So what changed? the POWER was stolen by the corporations and they changed the market to sell what they want to sell when they want to sell it and the talent itself doesn't get a say in it.
Now i won't mention any names but the last 5 rappers i heard were going to be the "next big thing" made me laugh, but it's no laughing matter because what i'm saying is it's not based on talent, these are individuals who have got themselves into a position through HARD WORK and MARKETING, whether it be directly or through a team.
I don't want to make this post longer than it need be so i'm gonna TRY and keep it brief, if you REALLY wanted to be counted and be the person deep down you know its possible to be, it's going to take studying, doing your research, finding out the relevant steps it takes to be a position of power.
Unfortunately money makes the world go round, so once you have the money you can pay the price its costs to be front page of social media websites/blogs etc, you don't have to sell out to be that person, you just need to have the right business mind to not only make it to where you need to be but to maintain it once you are there.
So will you be that artist never made it because "people don't get my music"? Or are you gonna be that artist that stayed true to themselves, developed their knowledge wider than the music game? the artist that the corporations fear because you have the money and power to make moves without their say so?
Success isn't an achievement its a state of a mind, think like a winner, act like a winner be a winner.
STUDY, STUDY, STUDY, get your business & marketing up, today, thats worth double what your music is.
I recommend the book below (Seth Godin-Purple Cow) to anybody who is ready to make their music into a business.
